Zappa & Company is an independent Italian loss adjusting firm with more than fifty years of experience working for insurers. We handle property, engineering and liability claims, with a particular focus on complex technical investigations and substantial losses.
We accept instructions from insurers and reinsurers based outside Italy, as well as the Italian operations of international insurance groups. We provide the local technical expertise and reporting needed to assess losses and make informed claims decisions.
Specialist claims expertise
Our work covers fire and explosion, solar photovoltaic installations, construction and erection risks, machinery breakdown, natural catastrophes and business interruption. We also handle employers’ liability and workplace accident claims, together with construction defects claims under Italian decennial insurance policies.
We investigate causation, establish the extent of damage and assess the scope and cost of reinstatement. Our findings support the insurer’s assessment of coverage, liability and quantum.
Local presence and regional coverage
Our own adjusters handle assignments throughout Lombardy and the neighbouring provinces of Piedmont from our offices in Seregno and Giussano, north of Milan. For specialist property, engineering and liability assignments, we also accept instructions across Northern Italy.
Every assignment is managed by our own adjusters, who prepare and sign the reports. Where required, we appoint and coordinate structural engineers, geologists, testing laboratories and other specialists.
Reporting for international claims teams
We provide reports in English or Italian to suit the instruction. Our reports set out the evidence, explain our conclusions and identify the matters relevant to reserves, reinstatement and potential recoveries. English reporting also supports the Italian operations of international insurers when referring claims to regional or group teams.
Technical support in Italian proceedings
We assist insurers with the technical aspects of Italian claims procedures, including preliminary court expert investigations, workplace accident recoveries and construction defects disputes. We explain how these developments affect the investigation, the assessment of the loss and the options available to the insurer.
